Tulip Eureka moment

I had an 'aha' moment today. 2.5 years ago I planted 25 purple tulips, realizing that here in the South, they would probably only bloom one year. So, the first year I had 25 beautiful tulips. Then then 2nd year (last year), I had fewer, but still some. This year, I noticed that I had 6 flowers out of the 8 plants in my pots. But of the 17 tulips I planted in the ground, I only had 2 flowers. Hmmm. I think that the bulbs get chilled better in the pots than in the ground and thus they rebloom better. So, from now on, I think I will plant tulips only in pots - I do like the way they look!
